This is not a go and see this is a go and do. This beach is great for surfing and great for tourists and locals. The waves are massive and if your not keen on having a go many local surfing competition are held there regularly. Fishing is the last of the five and is very popular among locals and surprisingly tourists. Fishing along the beaches and rock fishing are very common in Phillip Island. Salmon, Taylor and Gummy Sharks are some of the most caught and the most targeted. Before ruled illegal locals fished for sharks at the Nobbies and caught a world record breaking Great white shark. The Island was named after Captain Arthur Phillip who was the first Governor. In it’s early years it was used for whaling, sealing and sheep farming. It was even used for a military defence so that the French could not claim this land. In 1920 a track was built to the penguin colony and that’s when the Penguin Parade begun.
